9 Day Rwenzori Mountaineering safari:

Day 1: Kampala to Kasese

Arrival at Entebbe airport and thereafter transfer to Kasese via Mbarara. On your way; you stop over at royal drum makers and at the Equator for an informative presentation by the guide. Make a stopover in Mbarara for lunch, and then proceed to Kasese to have you dinner and overnight stay at Margherita Hotel, Kasese.

 Day 2: Climb Nyabitaba through Bakonjo Farmsteads

After breakfast, head to Nyakalengija trailhead (1600m). Make final arrangements for a guide and porters. Begin hiking up to Nyabitaba hut; walk through the banana sambas on the side of the steep foothills, past the typical Bakonjo farmsteads with the children waving you on! Follow the trail along the Mubuku River, through landslides up and down rocks and bluffs, Cross the Mahoma River and climb steeply through break fern slopes and podocarpus forest to Nyabitaba Hut for over night (FB).

Day 3: Nyabita-Nyamileju-John Matte

After breakfast, take the trail from Nyabitaba which drops along the forest to the Kurt Shafer Bridge, just underneath the convergence of the Bujuku and Mubuku Rivers. A steep gradient through bamboo forest, pass through a long and fatiguing stretch of slipper moss-covered rock. After having lunch at Nyamileju Hut for lunch. You then continue to your trek stepping at the base of the mass tussock grass to avoid getting stuck in the rather wet ground. After about 7 hours walking, you will have reached the John matte Camp where you will spend the night.

Day 4 John Matte Camp –Bujuku Hut

Today's trek takes you up and down a cliff crossing the river severally along the Bujuku valley. The ground is permanently wet and muddy. After 5 hours, you reach the Bujuku lake where the scenic forest become bigger and bigger. After a short break, another hour's walk takes you to the Bujuku Hut (3,977-m) where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Bujuku Hut – Kitandara Hut

After breakfast, you will go for a trek which is much similar to the previous day as you walk up and down cliffs using roots tussock grass for support. The last bit of your trek is by ascending the Scott - Elliot saddle (4372m) and descending again to the Kitandara Lake before proceeding to Kitandara hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Kitandara Hut – Guy Yeoman Hut

The day will begin with a trek which will take you via the Fresh field saddle (4280m) passing Bujongolo cave to Mubuku Gorge. This will take about 8 hours. The overnight stay will be at the Guy Yeoman Hut (3450m).

Day 7: Guy Yeoman Hut – Nyabitaba Hut

The day will begin with a descent into the Mubuku valley passing very steep water falls through a bamboo forest. Dinner and Overnight will be at the Nyabitaba Hut.

Day 8: Nyabitaba Hut – Hotel Margarita.

After breakfast, you will descend to Ibanda where vehicles will be awaiting to take you back to Hotel Margarita for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Hotel Margarita – Kampala

In the morning, you will have dinner at leisure to drive back to Entebbe having lunch en route.
