East Africa boasts the highest peaks in Africa, with Mountain Kilimanjaro in Tanzania has the highest peak, followed by Mountain Kenya and then Mountain Rwenzori's Margherita peak in Uganda. All these mountains offer great opportunities for mountain hiking safaris. These three peaks have been graced by some of the greatest mountaineers in the world and provide a good enough challenge for any experienced mountain hiker.
There are also are great mountain in the region that have been gazzetted for mountaineering. These include; Mountain Elgon, mountain Muhavura and mount moroto in the east, southwest and northeastern parts of Uganda respectively.
