A Uganda Birding Safari Involves the Following Activities
The secluded and beautiful reserve lies on the southern shores of Lake Albert and offers a mosaic of different habitats with some excellent birding opportunities. It is a special interest to ornithologists for sightings of the enigmatic, swamp-dwelling shoebill.
Tall-grass woodland, Acacia savanna, grassland with extensive patches of Borassus and wet-lands adjacent to Lake Albert and its tributaries.
Status: Wildlife Reserve.

Shoebill, African pygmy Goose, Red-necked Falcon, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, Black-billed Barbet, Piapiac, Leaflove, Black-chinned, Quail-Finch.
The entrance into Semliki Wildlife Reserve passes through beautiful Borassus palm savanna and extensive grassland with scattered thorn thickets. Crested francolin and Helmet Guineafowl frequent feed on the track and Broad -billed Roller, Green Wood-hoopoe, African Moustached Warbler, Marsh Tchagra and Violet-backed Staring are all common.
It is also the favoured habitat of the rapacious Red-necked Falcon, often seen perched in the palms or in dashing flight over the grassland. The local Cabanis’s Bunting may be found in low Acacia in this area. The other productive stretch of wooded savanna the road to Ntoroko. Search for Banded Snake-Eagle, Double-toothed Barbet, Yellow-throated Leaflove and Green-backed Eremomela.
